Chronology Of Events
-
1952 - The prefecture of J&K State was established
for the first time. The absence of a catholic school in Jammu was
felt by the Army, who therefore made a request for the Catholic
nuns.
-
Dec 1952 - Father Boerkamp, a Mill Hill Father and
Lt. Col. Dean joined the forces and requested the then Chief
Minister-Sheikh Abdullah for a suitable piece of land to house a
Convent school.

12 April 1954 - Presentation Convent School, Jammu,
was opened.
-
11 Feb 1956 - Peter's School for the poor children
was started with 60 children on its rolls.
-
10 Oct 1957 - Temporary recognition was granted
for three years to the school.

1960 - The students’ strength swelled to 700.

15 April 1962 - Dr. Karan Singh, the then Governor
of J&k visited the school and was appalled to see the over-crowded
class rooms. He suggested that the Sisters should apply for a plot
of land to the Chief Minister and simultaneously dispatch copies to
the Deputy CM as well as to him.

26 April 1962 - Five acres of land was sanctioned
in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in favour of the Sisters.

15 June 1963 - Mother Agnes appealed to the
Government for a donation for the new school. She received Rs. 1
lakh for the same.

1964 - The school was shifted from BC Road to
Gandhi Nagar.

1965 - Upon Mother Agnes's request, the then Chief
Minister Mr. G. M. Sadiq sanctioned another 5 acres of land.

1966 - A Vernacular school and a boarding were
started for the economically and socially challenged girls in the
residence building.

1968 - Mother Peter, the first principal expired.

1971 - This year saw the introduction of Girl
Guides, Bulbuls and Boy Scouts. In the same year, the war broke out
between India and Pakistan and the school remained closed.

1972 - The silver Jubilee of Sister Mary was
celebrated. One floor was added to the school building in order to
accommodate the swelling number of students. The foundation was laid
by Sr. Benedict White and Sr. Christopher Fox (now known as Anne
Fox)

1974 - The school fared brilliantly in the class X
Board examinations. All the vernacular students also passed.

1975 - Nano Nagle's Bi-Centenary was celebrated and
a programme was conducted wherein the senior girls dramatized Nano
Nagle's life depicting and highlighting the significant events of
her life.

14 Nov 1976 - The Fund-raising Fete was organized
and its proceeds were distributed to the underprivileged children of
Nagri to ameliorate their condition.

1977 - Dr. Karan Singh presided over the function
on Sports Day and lauded the school for its exemplary efforts in
Education.

Dec 1977 - Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime
Minister of India, paid a brief visit to the school and addressed
the staff and the students.

1978 - On the Red Letter Day of Mother Mary's
feast, the construction work of the school was started which
continued by leaps and bounds.

1978 - school for the underprivileged children was
opened in Bakshi Nagar.

1979 - The Inauguration of the school auditorium
was done at the Eucharistic celebration led by Rev. Msgr. Boerkamp
and ArchBishop Angelo Fernandes along with the staff members of the
school. It was named as "Nagle Hall". The fee-collection was
assigned to the bank. The Employees’ Provident fund was introduced.

Dec 1979 - The Silver Jubilee of the school was
celebrated with boundless zeal and gaiety.The school uniform
underwent a process of Indianisation from a skirt blouse to
salwarkameez.

1980 - Social outreach programme was started by the
Sisters at R.S Pura. 1980 also saw the abolition of L.K.G.
-
1981 - A few schools for the underprivileged were
opened in different areas of Jammu as part of the drive for social
upliftment of the economically challenged.
Celebration of
Special Days like Worker's Day, Children's Day, Teacher's Day etc.
initiated.
Social Community Outreach started.
Vocational
Education for women in stress initiated by Sr. Maria Louisa.

1984 - Mother Teresa visited the school and
addressed the teachers and the students and laid stress on fostering
human values.
- 1985 - U.K.G was abolished.

1987 - Sr. Loyola's 50 years in the School
celebrated.
-
1989 - Provisional Affiliation to the school by the
J&K Board of School Education.

9 Dec 1990 - Tragic and untimely demise of Mr.
Sanjay Sudan, a veteran of the school. In his memory a water tank
was built in the school premises.

1991 - Sr. Loyola was conferred an award by the
Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah for her meritorious services to
the people of the state.

1992 - The Dance Festival initiated in the School.

1993 - Computer labs inducted in the School by Sr.
Anslem.

1994 - Oct 7, a rather ill fated day dawned with
the tragic and untimely demise of Sr. Anslem, the Principal
(1990-1994). The funeral was attended by a large gathering of
students, staff, Sisters from different Congregations and the people
of Jammu city.
-
1995 - In March, the last batch of boys passed out
from the portals of the school and the school once again reverted to
being an exclusively girls school. One of the senior staff members
Mrs. P. Singh was awarded the Best Teacher of the year by the
Governor, His Excellency, Gen. K.V Krishna Rao on Teachers' Day.

1996 - 26 Jan dawned with another unfortunate
occurrence in the history of the school. A series of bomb explosions
cast an ominous spell that marred the enthusiasm of the people
participating in the Republic Day celebrations at the Maulana Azad
Memorial Stadium. Our students, teachers and Sisters were shepherded
back to safety.

1997 - On 19 Jan 1997 Mr. Marcel Mendonca died in
harness. He rendered loyal and dedicated service to the school for
many years as an Accountant.

1998 - On 18 Jan 1998-Young Students Movement
began. The boarding for students was closed down.

1999 - On 27 April 1999 Sr. Dominic breathed her
last. She worked for many years in the school with complete
dedication and exhibited her tremendous love and compassion for the
children and the poor.

2000 - On 21 Aug 2000 Sr.Veronica was snatched by
the cruel hands of death.A milestone was achieved when the school
was granted the CBSE affiliation and upgraded to class XII. Sr.
Roselima, the then Principal, relentlessly pursued it till it was
successfully accomplished.

2001 - The first batch of class X of CBSE passed
out in 2001 with commendable results.

2002 - On 14 April 2002, a cycle rally was
organized by the Jammu Adventure Sports Club. The motto was in
consonance with the crying needs of the city-"Keep Jammu Clean and
Green". It was flagged by the then Principal, Sr. Roselima.

2003 - The new Nagle block was inaugurated.
Computer, Physics, Chemistry, Biology labs were extended. The
outdoor stage was completed in the same year. The first batch of
class XII passed out in 2003 with commendable results.

2004 - The School celebrated the Golden Jubilee.
- 2006 - Sr. Loyola expired on 2 June.

2007 - The School became an Examination Centre for
CBSE exams. Ramp inaugurated.

2008 - Mrs. Simmi Gupta, a member of the staff ,
lost her life in an accident on her way back home from the School.
-
2009 - 225 Jubilee of our Foundress, Nano Nagle
celebrated. His Excellency, Sh. N.N Vohra, Governor, J&K, was the
Chief Guest.
-
2011 - Science Club, Child Rights Club, Maths Club
initiated. Nuncio visited the Convent on 1 Oct 2011.

2012 - Sr. Rosamma felicitated with CBSE National
Award.

2013 - Nano Nagle, Foundress of the Presentation
Congregation, was declared Venerable by Pope Francis.

2014 - Year of Diamond Jubilee.
Our School
was rated GREEN in an online CBSE Sanitation Rating Programme.
Our
School was rated 10th best school in India by The Education World
India School Rankings.

2015 - Six Guides felicitated with President Award.

2016 - Trip to UN
Our school won championship trophy for girls in School Olympics
(organized by District Administration and Youth Services and
Sports).
As a pioneering step towards environment conservation in a paper
(recycling plant was set up in the school premises).
